Bluetooth Connections for Edge 1030 on apple devices

When I set up my Garmin Edge1030 two Bluetooth Connections were created on my Iphone 12. (BLE) Edge 1030 and (BT) Edge 1030. When I turn on the Edge 1030 only the (BLE) Edge 1030 gets connected. When does the (BT) Edge 1030 get connected. Does anyone know what each of the connections are used for?

I believe the standard Bluetooth connection is used to transfer data, like rides & routes. The BLE connection is used to display phone messages.
