Blue Halo Screen again and again, but refusal of free exchange

In december 2017, I bought the Edge 1030. During the next year, I got the blue halo screen issue, so after contacting support in 11/2018, they exchanged my edge with a new one, and I hope that it was a model whthout this issue.

During 2019, I saw again the blue halo, but it was ligther, so I decided to wait. During this summer, the issue is more important, so recently, I decided to contact the support.

But, they decided that, because my model was out of garantee, to exchange with a new one if I payed 166 € of charge.

I wrote them that my first model was replaced with a new one with the same issue, so I don't think that I have to pay for an issue well known by Garmin. But the French support refused my arguments, and I finished to pay.

So, first of all, it was the last time I pay something to Garmin (after the lot of issues with Vector 3) , I will now see for Wahoo product for GPS, and then, I will examine every year my edge 1030 and send it back to support before end of garantee as long as the blue halo screen will appear, even a little bit.

  • You should not experience the halo problem again since Garmin modified the screen to correct the issue. Also, be aware that your replacement 1030 has a very limited warranty period.

Perhaps after a while Garmin modified the screen, but my first exchange was with a refurbished one, so I doubt that the screen was good, and I can't send picture of the halo screen. Ok warranty if for limited pediod, but when the defect is well known a serious enterprise exchange the device with a new one, even after the warranty

  • I also bought my 1030 sometime in 2017, and it duly suffered from the screen halo. The first two replacement 1030s that Garmin supplied me suffered the same screen halo problem as the original unit. After the screen on second replacement unit went the same way, when I rang Garmin Australia about getting a replacement, I also pointed out that that there was actually a later version of the screen available that apparently didn't suffer this problem. Whoever I spoke to at the time didn't know this, but I was sent a unit with the updated screen, which has now lasted considerably longer than any of the first three 1030s without the screen degrading.

  • New type of display: Settings -> System ->about -> Copyright Info.
TSc Version 86.04.00 is the new display.

Thank you for the information, but too late, my device is in French support Home, so I can't verify. But the photo taken before I send them my device, for me it's clear !!!
