Course name text size limit of 15 characters

I find it inconvenient that the character limit for courses is 15.  15 characters is way too small for naming courses.  Does anyone know why Garmin has not addressed this.  This should be high up on their list of enhancements

    Are you seeing this limit when naming a course on the Edge itself, or when naming a course in Garmin Connect?

    Hi Garmin-Blake,   I am able to create a course name on Garmin Connect greater than 15 characters, but when I copy it to my Garmin Edge 1030 the name of the course gets truncated to the first 15 characters.  I have never created a course directly on the Garmin Edge 1030 itself but all the courses on the device is limited to 15 characters

    I also see this as quite a problem. Names cut in half create problems of organization and ordering.

    Therefore, it is necessary to open the route to consult the map. And in some cases the course was very similar to another and I rode in vain.

    It would be great for Garmin to be able to increase the number of characters for names on the Edge 1030.

    And if one has different routes where the first 15 characters are the same, only the most recently loaded is there.  This suggests that the maps are keyed by the literal name (or rather the first 15 characters of it) rather than using a hash of the name or some other reasonably unique key.  

    I'd be happy with longer names, but I'd really like to see maps use a hash of the literal name for a more space efficient, unique ID.

    This is still a problem and needs a fix. Not an issue for my wife on her Wahoo.

    You can use longer names in your Connect account, but once transferred to the Edge it is truncated. I adopted a code at the beginning of the course name that identify the area, distance and ride type with 5-6 characters, and I add a descriptive. But you have to adopt a system to work with that limit, it won't change.

    At this point, don't expect this to be changed for the 1030 (and the 1030+, 530, 830).
