Wrong indoor trainer elevation

Using Edge 1030 firmware 11,

indoor trainer elevation double of road ride

followed a road ride from 4 days ago which calculated 486m elevation, same ride in indoor trainer mode calculated 969m

  • Seems odd, can't you just correct it? Technically you climbed and descended exactly 0m.

  • elevation shoud be null on indoor trainer

  • I am following my own previous activity/course on a Wahoo trainer with Edge 1030 indoor trainer mode, it behaves like the real road ride, with the previous firmware versions it calculated the distance and elevation correctly as per selected ride.

I think some of you do not fully understand the capability of the indoor trainer option. It behaves similiar to a Zwift ride without the scenery display, Plus you are riding against the person(virtual partner) of the selected activity, in general yourself.

  • I think some of you do not fully understand the capability of the indoor trainer option.

I fully understand it. I just don't get why it matters how many m it counted...did you get the resistance or not? Indoors isn't about climbing, speed, or any of the metrics that relate to moving across the earth.  It is about resistance. Did the training give you the appropriate resistance?

  • yes, I am getting the resistance for elevations, as I said with previous firmware, indoor rides behaved like the actual ride with firmware prior to 11

  • and 4 days ago , did you had different firmware? check what is the current elevation at the start of the ride, and check at the end of the ride

Indoor should count only the elevation from the loaded course, but who knows, maybe there is an bug

  • yes, it worked fine before,  the indoor ride had the same distance/elevation/map and so on as the loaded course,  therefore at completion of the indoor ride had same data except for avg. speed if the ride was faster/slower

    assume it is a bug

  • helput_l I get your point. Make sure you have FW 11. They have done lots of work on the indoor mode recently You can check the FW release notes if you want to see what those are.
