Edge 1030 while walking

I am trying to use my Edge 1030 during a walk to measure the distance. I have the autopause turned off and the timer start set to manual but the distance registered is no where near correct. The 1030 only measured 500+ feet where my physical therapist measured almost 3/10 of a mile. Is there some setting that I am missing?

I would have multiple questions to help solve this, such as what sensors are paired if any, what recording rate do you have set, what GPS settings are you running, but this is ultimately not what the 1030 was designed for.

If I can ask, what is the use-case for this? I only ask to see if there is some way we can help you make this work.

The 1030 is paired with a heart monitor. The recording rate is "Smart". The GPS settings are GPS + Glonass. I know the 1030 is designed to be on a bike or indoor trainer but what is the difference if I mount it on my bike and ride at a walking pace? I am walking instead of riding to rehab my knees from having both replaced. The plot from the walk is correct.

Change the recording to 1 second, not smart, and see afterthat

The difference is that on the bike device is in one position, while on walking you are holding in your hand and your hand is moving every second

Ussually devices behave badly while you move slowly

I loaded your fit to the fitfile repairtool by Mathias Krallmann.
The recorded track is ok and the distance resulting of GPS trackpoints is ok, too - 0,48 km ( 0.298 mi)
To be honest - I don't know where the distance 0,16 km (525 ft) comes from.

I have sent a request to Mathias Krallman, maybe he can answer - but I'm sure aweatherall can answer, too!

Thanks. I changed the data recording to 1 second and tried it today. The distance didn't really start to record until I turned around to come home. The displayed distance was 1.4 miles but the total distance walked was double that. I loaded the fit file into Basecamp and displayed the data. The sum of the distances was 0.346 miles.
