edge 1030 slow start up

I have the edge 1030 and have had very little problems until the last update. Now it takes 2 or 3 attempts for the device to finally start up and when it does that takes ages before the home screen appears. I have tried the soft reset and that helps for that time I use it, but next time I get the same problem.

I also noticed, my device last week the battery was full and it was off. I went to use it now and the battery was only 3%. Which is crap because now I have to wait for the battery now.

I was wondering if a full reset back to factory settings would help.

Any advice?

  • Before you do a factory reset:

Connect your device to your PC/Mac
Check the folder /Garmin/Activities if there are "hundrets" of files - if so, move the most to your harddisc (or all for test booting)
Check the folder /Garmin/Courses if there are "hundrets" of files - if so, move the most to your harddisc (or all for test booting)
Check the folder /Garmin/NewFiles - if there are any, delete all!

If that does not help you could try to boot without SD-card - if you have one insertet

In any case it is a good idea do hold a few files only in /Activities and /Courses!

The advice worked for me when I had the same problem after the firmware update
