FW 10 spontaneous power-off during activity

Haven't had this happen before in the 2+ years I've had a 1030. During this morning's ride (just recording a ride, not navigating), I noticed that the Gear Combo field that shows the F/R eTap cogs in use had suddenly stopped showing any data, though other fields such as speed, distance etc were still functioning, and shortly after that the 1030 just powered itself down - battery level at the time was around 70%. I pressed the power button, the 1030 booted up, and displayed the save/continue activity screen. I pressed the start activity button and the unit continued as normal.

When I installed FW 10 on the 1030, I performed a full reset on the device, so there shouldn't have been anything from the previous beta FW left around.

  • I also have my garmin 1030 for 2 years and I had the same experience

from 9.50 firmware they have mess up something and devices crash or freeze realy bad

I dont know if is something related to ransomware, but is to big coincidence

    I advise you to downgrade.

Also someone suggest that wifi should be disabled (to not have wifi and bt in the same time)

  • same issue there, Turned off, had to restart manually, took a while to power off fully

Thank you for this very important information. I haven't updated my 1030 for months and still running beta SW. It was told by Garmin hungarian authorized reseller to do full reset and the 1030's speed will be OK again and also the root of the poweroff may caused by the lack of full reset.

I wanted to do the full reset before update but now I prefer to keep the device as it is. There are too many issues and Garmin's response time (compared to the device price) is terrible slow.

I really hope Garmin is not going to force the push of the recent "stable" SW.

Actually as per the complains it looks like regardless I install beta or not the SW developments are not that good it should be...
