Garmin 1030 not loading past courses after updating it on 26 Aug 20.

I just got a brand new 1030 out of the box, added sensors, customised data screens then it said a software update is available so I ran it, but it won’t go past loading courses. Done the 10 second reset and still not loading courses, help?

I am having the same issue although my 1030 was working for over a year without issues.   I hope someone can answer what to do.   So far I have done a full hard reset and looked at the file structure but not sure what got corrupted.

  • Can you get it to be recognized by your PC or Mac?

    Try:

    Windows:

    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Computer
    3. Open the Garmin drive
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    6. Eject the GPS device from the computer
    7. Power on the device

    Mac:

    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Garmin drive
    3. Open the Garmin folder
    4. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    5. Empty the Trash
    6. Eject the GPS device from the computer.

I tried all this and worked with Andrew at Garmin.   What I ended up doing was copying the entire Garmin file from a working 1030 and copying it onto the one that would shut down.   Now it boots up and I did a factory reset but now it complains about map authorization which I am hoping that Garmin Express will fix.

Hi shudman, yes the p.c. Recognises it ok but it still doesn’t see the Di2 sensor. And my varia radar/light disconnected a few times on my last ride which was unusual.
