Is the halo the blue kiss of death?

Hi all

I've had my 1030 for almost two years (bought 21/07/18.)

Just recently I've noticed the dreaded blue halo.

It's just on the perimeter of the display, and only extends for about 1mm.

Could anyone advise whether this will get worse, leading to the unit eventually failing completely?

Should I ring Garmin to get a replacement unit, as it presumably still under warranty?

Any advice on this gratefully accepted.

Hi,

You should contact with Garmin Support for this known issue before end of warranty.

Many thanks for your helpful responses.

I phoned Garmin and they are going to send me a replacement, refurbished unit.

Funny though-the helpful garmin chap said that they understand that the blue halo is a problem, and have looked into solving it, but that they still do not understand what is causing it!

Garmin do know what the issue was and have fixed it in later builds. The newer units have a different part number for the screen when viewed by putting the unit in test mode.

Update. The TSC value is a better way to find out

Thanks for your comments.

Presumably Garmin will be sending me a later unit with the issue fixed?

What part number and above should I be looking for in test mode?

Hi, LILYARLO

Don't go to test mode. You 'll have to scroll down a certain sequence. Just power up your edge. At the lower left corner hit the menu. Select "System" then "About", then "Copyrightinfo" and there you 'll find all the info. In your case, look for the TSC version. It should be 86.04.00.
