Garmin says training unproductive (Short on Low Aerobic)

Hi All,

I keep getting messages that I'm short on "low aerobic" efforts, but last couple of days have been doing really easy rides and it still isn't updating.

How does Garmin calculate whether what you're doing is high anerobic, aerobic, or low aerobic?   Is it by power?  By HR?

Does it need to be interspersed inside the same ride?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Gavin

  • Hmmm , I think it should be calculated by power

But that it means that you should have FTP set correctly and you ride should be short and in zone 1-2 of power

  • I’m pretty sure it is calculated based on the accumulated Training Effect data from your device. It is often inaccurate in my experience. If I have a couple of endurance rides it quickly says I’m Unproductive or worse. The algorithm does like it if you rest, so I would not pay much attention... JMHO
