firmware 9.50 + Varia Radar

I noticed, that after update to 9.50, Varia Radar acts strangely. When it detects car, it shows dot on top (indicating that car is just behind me) at first second and then it start from bottom and moving up as car approaches. I have first generation of Radar and have had it for a few years now, and it never happened, so it must be caused be firmware 9.50. Anyone similar experience?

  • Can you not keep hitting “remind me” when it notifies you there’s an update available? Unless there’s an “auto update” option that I’m not aware of, of course.

Reading multiple issues with 9.50, I decided not to update and the unit finally got tired of asking me after 4-5 times.

  • I had the same experience with the dot after two rides. Now after two more rides the radar seems to be acting like it used to again.

  • I have the exact same problem after the 9.50 update. (Updated from 9.10.

  • I downgraded firmware back to 9.10 and radar works as supposed again.

  • Same here. In addition every time I power on 1030, sensors for light&radar are automatically in ON state although switched off after road bike ride. Very anoying. I don’t know wheater it is related but after radar install every time I power on edge it is always set to first profile - before it somehow remembered the last profile ride.

  • I had problems with the 9.50 firmware which resulted in me having to do several hard resets. Everything is working fine now including the radar. I have not seen a disconnect and that extra dot is gone. This was the first time I have had any problems with a new firmware.

I too am having this same issue. The dot appears for a split second at the top of the screen before changing to the bottom where it should have been to begin with.

  • Check your autostart option on the light. It can be set tu turn ON when the Edge is turned on, when the Edge start recording, or not turn ON automatically. I like to keep it to turn ON when the Edge start recording. In that setting the light turn on briefly when the Edge is booting but turns off once the ANT+ connection is establish. It then turns ON when I press Start. Works for me. Also lean to use the Lights widget on the Edge to control all those things.

  • Same here.  With the RTL-510, I'm seeing the dot at the top and then the dot moves back (but not all the time).  Is it me, or if a car is still behind you, the Edge seems to go green when it shouldn't?  It seemed like in v9.10, the 1030 was much more accurate in leaving the notification if a car remained behind you but slowed down.

The other problem I'm noticing in v9.50 is that the adding the RTL-510 as a sensor doesn't necessarily add it as a light.  I had to add and remove my RTL-510 twice to my factory reset unit before it would allow me to see the light battery status and use the Light Widget on the radar (even though the radar was working and detecting traffic).  Also, the light widget seems to randomly turn itself off as well now.  I've had to go back in and re-enable three times.  Never had to do that before v9.50...

  • This is definitely a 9.50 firmware issue.

I sold on my 1030 and bought a 1030+ and have had no issues like that on the new unit.
