Problem with ProClimb not displaying on 1030 in UK

Edge 1030 with version 9.10

Other than a software version update knocking it out. The only thing that has changed is the Edge 1030 (bought in the UK last year); was in the US upto two months ago with proclimb working fine. Got back to blighty and no proclimb at all on any hill. Checked all settings nothing changed or wrong. One thing that did change is the UK phone it connects too. Couple questions:

Is proclimb running off GPS ? Calculated in the 1030 or cloud based ? Hence needs a constant tether to phone ?

I'm obviously missing something about why it works in the US and not in the UK. Thinking its a phone permissions based issue, but not sure.

I've reset the device and realised its probably not quite as straightforward as that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

p.s. they're iphones; so the dreaded iOS for garmin. Had loads of BS over the years with iOS and many forerunners started with 205.

  • ClimbPro runs completely on the Edge and is dependent  on the elevation data that is in the course file you are using.

Maybe you were using course files in the US as you did not know the area as well and now you are back in the UK you are not using courses?

You can also try adjusting the ClimbPro sensitivity setting to move it from its default medium setting to allow the filter to include smaller hills.
