VO2 Max Yoyo and the impact on Training Status

Does everybody have the VO2 Max Yoyo?  Basically every time I do a VO2 max workout my VO2 goes up; when I do a recovery ride it goes down; when I do a muscular endurance ride it sits in the middle.  It is like a ping-pong going between 52 and 54 and changes most days.

As you can see in the graph below my running VO2 is much more stable and shows a general trend.  This issue appears to be cycling related and probably therefore a Edge 1030 issue.

My VO2 Max should not be changing every day; and when I do a recovery ride it doesn't actually go down - but the Edge recalculates the VO2 and records a drop.  I know VO2 max capabilities do decline quickly but not that quickly!

I could ignore the VO2 Max Yoyo although it is very annoying.  When it gets presented each day on my watch I'm always interested to see what the lottery number is going to come up as after each workout.  This VO2 Max issue also directly affects the Training Status.

Because VO2 is a driver of the training status the daily fluctuations in VO2 cause the training status to yoyo as well.  VO2 Max workout on Tuesday morning will always give me a high VO2 and a Productive training status.  Wednesday usually holds the same as it is a difficult interval session.  Thursday is my recovery day - Boom, VO2 drops, training status changes to either Maintaining or more commonly Unproductive.

End result is that VO2 Max and as a result Training Status is therefore a joke.  Do other people experience this as well?
