How can I add heart rate data from my Forerunner 225 to my new Edge 1030? Ir just duplicates the ride on Garmin Express

I have been uploading my Forerunner 225 data from my bike rides but now i've invested in an Edge 1030. I started both devices so i can capture the Edge data but also the Forerunner heartrate data but when I upload them via Garmin Connect app (on the phone for the 1030) and via Express for the Forerunner there are two events uploaded not one combined? I have connected both devices to the Garmin Connect app on my phone.

Shame you can't use it. For what it's worth wrist based HR isn't normally as reliable as a chest strap, if you have issues with wrist based HR and don't want to use a chest strap there are…

I would suggest investing in an inexpensive ANT+ heart rate monitor and pairing it to your 1030.

Alternatively, you can probably set your Forerunner to broadcast heart rate data over ANT+ so that the 1030 can pick it up.

Heart rate monitors are pretty cheap, I would suggest going that route.

Agree to some extent with fallingrock but in the meantime you can always give this a go before buying to see how it goes.

Thanks for replying. I prefer to use a wrist based monitor so will have to upgrade the watch as it doesn’t broadcast harm info.

Of course it varies from person to person so might be fine for you

I concur, chest strap HRM are much more accurate than optical versions.
