Garmin 1030 freezing mid ride

1030 on latest firmware released with varia radar On latest firmware. Has galaxy note 10 plus connected as well.

Freezes for no reason mid ride when it feels like it. Unit has all data on screen just nothing works at all, have to hard reset it then it continues the ride with about 2 minutes of time and data missing. Out today and froze twice within an hour. Any ideas?

Frozen on no less than 8 occasions on a 4 mile ride today. Any ideas?

You could try plugging it into a PC and running a chkdsk across the storage to see if there's any corruption.

Done this, no errors found. Also reset to factory and made new profiles with sensors......still freezing mid ride. It even turned itself off today. This is a replacement unit from a blue halo unit a year ago if that. Who do I email as this is not acceptable for a £400 unit to be doing this.

Update, been on to support and been asked to delete the xml file and reboot. Have done this and put it in a ride on the window sill. Seems ok so far but will see when out tomorrow.

Which xml file were you supposed to delete? My device was frozen mid ride, I rebooted and everything seemed okay. But then another freeze while saving the ride. Result: activity completely lost. That's simply not acceptable for such a high price unit.

If there is only one, which one would you choose...? ;)

GarminDevice.xml (device will generate a fresh one).

And to exclude SD-card issues, for the time being leave out the SD-card while investigating the device stability after deleting the .xml file.

So, been out on commute. On the way, froze 3 times and turned itself off 4 times. Somethings not right. Used on way home and worked flawlessly........... I’m going to go back to support as I’m not happy with it.

I've been having this problem too. I have been running the beta including 9.34 and yesterday it froze. Will delete garmin.XML and see how it goes. Sounds like someone had a problem with 9.10 so not sure now if I will downgrade to it. I had been thinking to do that. This a refurb unit for the blue halo that I got a few months ago. For my case I do have lost of CIQ apps installed and also was running a course. For more than a year I've been running the same setup and no problems until recently.

So, spoken with support and they are replacing it again.
