Edge 1030 will not update from software version 8.0 to 9.1

Edge 1030 tells me on the device that 9.1 is available but will not update to it even when connected to iPhone.  It starts to validate the update, counts to 99 then crashes.

Will not update via Garmin Express either,  Express either tells me it cant find the device or it crashes mid way through the upload.  This is the case on both IOS and PC

Have any other uses experienced similar

  • I had the same issue a time ago. It turns out that the GUPDATE.GCD on my Edge was corrupt - and that because the file-system on my Edge was corrupt.

    Solution: connect your device to your PC, delete GUPDATE.GCD on your device, switch to drive C:, on your PC run:

    chkdsk /f X:    (where X: ist the name of the Edge-drive.)

    Answer questions with Yes.

    Start update-download anew.

    Before disconnecting your Edge, run chkdsk one more time!
