Edge 1030 keeps loosing connection to ANT+ HR Strap and Indoor Trainer

Dear Support,

I use a Garmin HR-Strap and have also connected my Indoor Trainer. Both use ANT+. During the Training, I experience strange dropouts. The Indoor Trainer (Wahoo Kickr'18) sends speed, power, cadence and distance. Sometimes, speed drops out and after a second or two, it shows the speed again. Same for power. But after a few minutes of riding, it seems the connection to the indoor trainer gets lost completely. 3s avg output gets to zero and it seems the trainer then switches from erg mode to resistance mode.

Same applies to HR Strap, which got disconnected. Im pretty sure it's not the strap, as it was still connected to the Kickr Headwind and regulating fan speed according to my heartrate. Headwind is even further away from the strap as the edge.

When I move the Edge closer to the trainer, nothing happens, so distance is not a problem. Trainer also connects via ANT+ with other devices.

So ia ssume it must be the Edge causing all this trouble.

Anyone got an idea?

Kind regards,
Mike

  • So, even with the actual firmware 11.10, I do have dropouts from indoor trainer and even disconnects! This is really frustrating when performing a high intensity workout and it doesn't get recorded or even worse, the trainer disconnects.

This is the recording using Edge1030 from todays workout.

This is the Training recorded on Edge

The same activity recorded with my Fenix 6 shows no disconnects or dropouts, not paired as indoor trainer, so it doesnt interfere with edge. Take a look here:

    Training recorded with fenix6

Could Garmin please take a look into this and investigate? It's really frustrating and even messes up the power stats and therefore interferes with training status.

Since the workout is recorded without issues on the Fenix 6, this must be an issue of the Edge 1030 firmware.
