Edge won't connect to Mac

I've tried on two different computers (one running Catalina, one running Mojave) with different USB ports on each and differentUSB  cables. Once, it was plugged into my OS Catalina Mac and a dialog box appeared asking if Garmin Express could access an external device and I said Yes and it then mounted it. I loaded an update, it ejected itself from the Mac and now it won't connect again. I tried what some folks says works by holding the lap button down when I plug it into the USB port, but that didn't help.

  • Works fine here. You have to use the original Garmin USB cable.

  • Not true. You can use any ole USB cable as long as it transfers data. The cheap USB cables you find at the gas stations or Amazon are power only.

Anyhow, when I have problems with my MacBook Air my 1030, I turn the edge off and back on. That solves most issues that I have

  • I am having the same issue. Worked perfectly every time until the Garmin ran an update via Wifi. Now I can no longer see the Disk mount on my Mac Desktop.

I have tried Zapping the pram on my computer turning off/on etc No joy. I think Garmin are responsible but how do we get this sorted from here?

Have you tested connecting it to another computer?

I just checked on my MacBook and my Edge 1030 comes up as a disk. I've got version 11.0.0.0 installed on the Edge and Big Sur on the MacBook.

  • I think the issues I am having connecting anything to my new MacBook Pro 14 is the cables. I have a couple of cables that work. They must be data cables and not just cheap power cables. I will do some more research and try to get data cables that are compatible with MacBooks.
