Annoying extra field on map view - virtual partner?

Have an Edge 1030. When navigating with map screen, an annoying field also appears, normally with a green band across. Is this virtual partner and how do I get rid of it. A selling point of this garmin was its larger screen for maps, but area now reduced because of a field I don't want! This is how the screen looks when selecting layout (I put on speed and distance, but not this other field

This is not climb pro. Just the route profile. You can remove it by going to your settings/profile/any-profile/data screens/map and then turn off ‘elevation profile’. You can leave climb pro enabled ans…

The green bar is the "climb pro" feature.

You can turn it off.

Menu (three horizontal lines) -> Activity Profiles -> Ride -> ClimbPro

I think what you want to do is go into your profile and go to data screens and then map. Then turn off Elevation Profile.

Many thanks to both your comments. In both cases I gave disabled the function.

If you use Plotaroute, do you think this field may on as a function of not disabling Virtual Partner on the route download screen of Plotaroute?

Try it.

It's an elevation profile. It should be available with or without the virtual partner.

Many thanks dpawlyk , it did indeed work when I went out for a test, but on a specific route that I downloaded and rode, I thought I did cancel elevation profile but it was still present. But your advice worked today, thanks

The last update enabled this feature in my profiles. On the one hand if they had not done this we’d have not known about the feature. :)

Thank you. Worked for me. Read my PDF manual and googled to no avail Found the distinction 'tween ClimbPro and elevation profile here.

I too bought the 1030 for its large, clear map and hated to lose some of the screen to the green band which I don't find helpful. Thanks folks. Keep posting!
