Issue with Software Update 9.0

Hi,

tried to install the new Software Update to my Edge 1030.

It‘s taking now more than 1 hour for a restart... anyone else facing this issue? Anything I can do?

  • I don't think so. Is working well with FR935, no issues here.

    It's been a 1030 problem since years....

Exactly same behavior. Shutting itself down randomly. Garmin Support suggested I delete some folders from the device, which might have contained corrupted files. Not sure this will solve the problem.... I am suspicious that this behavior started after updating to 9.00

i had my update via cable off the pc and the garmin app rather than downloaded over the units wifi and its been ok so far.

  • Agreed. The 1030 is always breaking connection w/ my phone. Whereas my Garmin ForeRunner 645 watch is always connected. Same Galaxy 8+ phone.

  • Hi,

I have had the same issue and therefore decided to downgrade back to 8.0; This will reset the device copletely, so, be carfully and make a backup of the important files.

Then, the automatic process installed 9.0 again and all was working fine..

A mi me paso lo mismo y mi solución fue instalar la versión 8.11 beta y después actualizar a la version 9.00 y ahora me va perfecto

  • Issue appears to be resolved.  I deleted the profile from Garmin Connect on my Pixel 2, including all Bluetooth connections listed, as well as deleted the corresponding phone on the1030 and repaired the two.

No issues during or after a 90 minute test ride this afternoon.

  • Same here,

    Very bad software update.

Not I'm loosing all the sensors after going to sleep and back - requires a reboot! (And then I lost the time and date! - because I'm indoor and no GPS, and sync to Garmin Connect won't fix the time - it's a huge headache!).

Also, when trying to get into the ride screens before the ride start, most of the times I'm getting training menu and not the data screen...

The last thing I want to do is reseting the device and starting all over again....

    "Thanks" Garmin.

    Very bad Software release!

So quick update: i called garmin and spoke to a technical support guy named Bobby. He was extremely helpful. When I told him that the device would reboot about 35-45min into the ride, he somehow figured that it was being caused by a corrupt sector in the storage as the unit was recording the ride. He had me delete my activities folder off the device (it was hooked up to my Mac and I could see the device in Finder). I also deleted a folder where the downloaded software update was stored. Rode for 1.25hrs today and all is good. Didn't shut off at all.
