LiveTrack Still Not Working

For over a year now I have been unable to get LiveTrack to work on my Edge 1030. I'm using an iPhone XS Max and have had iOS versions from 12 to now 13.2. I have tried deleting the app from the iPhone. I've tried turning off the feature and deleting everyone from the Garmin. No joy. Usually, I will get the LiveTrack failed message, but not always.

Has anyone had success getting LiveTrack working from a non-functional state? I'm just about ready to try a.ny reasonable suggestion.

Thanks!

  • So I had completely removed the connections from my iPhone and the Edge 1030, including within the Connect app. Re-paired everything and went to start my ride this morning. After a few seconds, up pops "LiveTrack Failed." So, SNAFU. Guess I will have to rely on Apple's Find My, which, unlike LiveTrack, actually does work.

  • Livetrack has been working surprisingly well for me since firmware 8 using a Iphone6. No disconnects and Livetrack autostart also works. The problem I have encountered is that about 1 out of 3 rides Livetrack does not end when the ride is saved and I have to manually end it.

  • All of my software is always up to date. I am also an Apple Developer. I even tested this on an iPhone with iOS 13.2 just in case there was an iOS bug that might have been causing issues. If there is, it's still there in 13.2 Dev Beta 2.

  • I'm using the Edge 1030 and a Samsung S9. Most of the time Livetrack works fine but sometimes I have to end it manually just like you, So this might be not related to iOS.

  • Use Glympse app. Garmin does not care about this live track issue. I have Edge 830 and since updating to iOS 13 I haven't been able to get a single over two hours ride without failing. Sometimes after 30 minutes, sometimes after one hour. Silence is what we get from Garmin about this problem.

Every experience is different.  I find LiveTrack generally reliable but Glympse takes multiple starts to get an SMS to send at all and I frequently get SMSes through the ride from the wife, "Glympse failed.  What's your ETA"

  • I've had to end Livetrack manually on my last four rides. I also have noticed that when I review the ride on the Livetrack site, the track does not follow the road for around 30% of the ride. It can be off the road by almost a quarter of a mile. However, when I review the ride on Garmin Connect the tracking is perfect. Perhaps Garmin uses a different map on the Livetrack site? Maybe the new firmware 9 will solve the problem.

  • So I rode yesterday and suddenly LiveTrack started working. But I just saw my Connect app updated last night and so I will have to wait until I do another ride to see if it is still working or if the update broke it again.
