Screen halo

Hi,

i seem to have a halo around my screen.

i have a Garmin Edge 1030 bought in September 2017

can you offer any advice please,

What is the TSC version of your screen? The blue halo screens were TSC 85.11.0 and the new screens without blue halo are TSC 86.04.00. You can find this information under - SYSTEM - ABOUT - COPYRIGHT …

Use the chat option, generally get a quicker response. Garmin should replace it, I've had mine replaced twice. The most recent one came with the updated screen that doesn't have the halo issue. It will be a refurb device rather than a new one. Takes about a week in the UK.

I got a new retail replacement earlier this year that is the updated screen. It has started exhibiting the halo issue as well.

Oh really? What version is your screen? I’ve only had my latest replacement a few weeks and tend to use my 830 more these days but will keep a eye out and see if it degrades.

Can you post a picture of your blue halo screen with the TSC version displayed?

I have the old screen. I was supposed have gotten a new unit with the new screen. Disappointed about that. I have sent a direct email to my support contact.

That’s an absolute disgrace, especially when they know it’s an issue with that screen.

Ive requested they replace my 1030 with an 830 instead, see what they say

I was offered a 830, but the screen is too small for me, and I don't know the 830 has anything compelling that the 1030 doesn't have.

Well coincidentally I bought an 830 for my son last week, the chipset is faster so loads quicker and the screen seems a lot sharper, other than that the functions are the same I think. The screen is definitely brighter which helps my ageing eyes!
