EDGE 1030 iPhone

I am sick of the pairing issues with iPhone. Constantly not working. Tried many fixes but something very wrong with Garmin software.

Any suggestions??

  • What cycling joy is compromized if your edge is not paired with your phone? I gave up and I don't miss anything.

  • I read the comments concerning pairing issues with the Iphone and I have to say I'm a bit baffled. I've had my 1030 paired with my Iphone for 14 months now with no problems. The guys I ride with have no problems. There must be some setting on the iphone that is causing problems for some users.

  • Do you keep Garmin Connect app opened or minimized so it runs in the background on you iPhone?

  • I start GCM before turning on the 1030. It takes about 10 seconds to connect. I then have it run in the background. I've also had the connection take place with GCM running in the background. I just tried doing that now and it connected fine. It should be noted that I have a Iphone 6 running on the latest version of IOS 12. I understand that IOS 13 does present connection problems which supposedly have been fixed in the latest Beta firmware.

Well I have a 10S with IOS 13.3. Prior to the 13.3 upgrade it was working fine but now I pair it easily but then the connection is lost within 24 hours. Frankly very good cycling computer but this phone pairing sucks. I have every update that is out there from Garmin. Frustrating indeed

  • Have you tried contacting Garmin support?  They might be able to talk you through your problem.  I just replaced my iPhone 6 with an iPhone 8.  That meant I could use iOS 13 and up (the iPhone 6 cannot run iOS 13).

I saw a disconnect at first, but then I got my Edge 1030 and iPhone together, ran Garmin Connect on the iPhone, and I haven't had any problems since.

Thank you for your input. Last 2 days I opened Garmin Connect on the I Phone before turning on the 1030 leaving it open and so far all is good.

  • Yeah, it's obvious in retrospective that GCM needs to be on.  I had the same issues and read the reminder about this.  Insert sound of smack on side of head here.

  • Same stuff. I'm very disappointed with this very expansive piece of ***.

  • solution: choose 'forget smart phone' in connect menu on the device, and start the whole process again.
