Connect to an indoor trainer without control it

I want connect to an indoor trainer (Tacx Smart Genius) without control it.

Why? Because I want to use the indoor trainer app or zwift, but I also want to be able to register my activities in Garmin Connect and keep my Training Status updated.

How can I do it?

  • Simply add sensors.

Turn on your Genius, go to sensor page on your Edge - add new sensors - search for speed/cadence and search for power. Both should be found.

It works that way with my TACX Neo.

I don‘t know the Genius - of course it must have ANT+.

  • just use the sensor as power meter but not trainer

  • Thank you for this.  The questions and answers were helpful.  On my Tacx Neo 2 I was not able to find a "speed" sensor, or a "cadence" sensor, but then I looked for a "speed/cadence" and that one worked for me (once I figured that nuance out).

It seemed to me that I needed to permanently unpair the "trainer" sensor in order to prevent it from automatically connecting (or even to disconnect it a all). Does anyone know how I could keep it paired but only connect it when I do so manually (in case I want to run an ERG workout through it?)
