  • Great, Garmin!

Please improve the contrast level of BirdsEye (or custom maps); or possibly a control screen to adjust the screen contrast. I say this because on the computer screen, the maps are quite sharp, but on the Edge 1030 the color is poorly saturated. Grateful once again.

  • I took the risk and updated to 8.06. So far nothing wrong but have only played with it indoor. It connect ok with WAHOO CORE trainer and now I can use the cadence that its coming from the trainer.

    CLIMB PRO looks better...

The list of changes is too long and there is stuff there that I did not even know what it is or how to use.

  • The Edge devices use a screen technology that is very low power (needed since it ON all the time) and perform very well in direct sunshine (needed since as you ride you don't control the sunlight direction). However that technology is not good at rendering imagery i.e. it has limited constrast and not so many colours to use. It is not designed to do what you are looking for, BirdsEye being more of a Outdoor GPS unit feature. I have never seen BirdsEye used on the Edge. The Edge is not really designed to work that way. There is no software change that can compensate for limitations of the hardware. For most cyclists Garmin chose the right tradeoffs.

  • Unable to sync with Garmin Connect APP Android. Iq apps don't work anymore.  (eg. Ride with GPS keeps loading)

I can confirm that with this update the Ride with GPS App no longer works & sits at the Loading screen.

What I don't know is if it's the F/W update itself or the Ride with GPS App is not compatible with the CIQ 3.1 update in this beta

  • Yes lights are connected fine

  • I had a ride with 8.06 and all was good for me today.

  • I've had this happen on previous firmware updates and found deleting BT profiles and reconnecting from GCM fixed it.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried that but it didn't fix the issue.

I'm pretty sure it's something that has changed in CIQ 3.1 that is causing communication issues between some apps that access services via a paired mobile device. I've been testing the Grouteloader, Gimporter & IQ Map Receiver apps and although they do work; where under f/w 8.0 they would take less than a minute to download a route to my edge; under f/w 8.06/8.07 they're taking somewhere in the region of 10 minutes to download the same route. In fact as I have auto sleep enabled on my edge if I don't keep tapping the screen every now and then the edge will go to sleep before the route downloads. Something, which previously i wouldn't need to do

  • first check on V8.06  ==> Climb Pro doesn't work for round-trip >100km. If you save the round-trip as course and reload it...then it's working.

I've sent the "Feedback Reporting Form" with the bug to GARMIN

I just tested Gimporter under 8.07, and it seemed to operate fairly normally - took 20-30 seconds to download a course from my phone to the 1030.
