Nothing to do: Training Status and Physio-TrueUp stop to work!

Nothing to do: Training Status and Physio-TrueUp stop to work!

As I explained in my previous posts Training Status and Physio-TrueUp between Edge 1030 (after upgrade to 8.00) and Fenix 5 do not work anymore.

All the activities (running, cycling, bispinning, swimming, ...) that I perform with my Fenix 5 cannot be "summed" with the activities of Edge 1030, because they miss of "Primary Benefit" and "Load" values.

And I can accept this for activities that are not related to the BIKE, but if I have and indoor bike training with my Fenix 5, this is not consistent.

  • You can use the 1030 for indoor bike training. It is also more convenient. But if Garmin offers this option it should work.

  • I can use it only when I train indoor with my bike. At work I have a spinning bike unfortunately, and some other times I go to run (and I've bought the Fenix because of it).

And just to be honest, eval the "primary benefit" or "load" does not need a firmware update. It's enough to analyze the metrics on the Garmin Connect Web platform once they are uploaded.

  • Try to toggle the True-Up function off/on again on both devices followed by a full sync of each of them. I'm still not sure if the 7 day load will match up eventually as there seems to be a small discrepancy. I also had problems with the Training status not matching even after syncing both devices, they match currently after doing an indoor session on the 5+ followed by turning on the 1030 to allow it to pick up the latest data. It also appears that the edge 1030 is updating the Training Load Focus metric after a Fenix 5+ activity, which is a good thing.

For me, the only real issue appears to be the difference in 7 day training load. I will report back when I get to use the edge 1030 for an outdoor activity to see if this problem is fixed.

Training Load, training status and recovery hours should match on both devices if they are synced around the same time, anything less is unacceptable and will result in me opening a support ticket with Garmin.

I also like to use my 5+ for indoor training as I can keep the 1030 on the high end bike, while using the steel bike on the trainer as moving the device constantly would result in a loose quarter turn mount.

  • The activity history on both device is synced and perfectly the same. Simply the activities created by Edge 1030 have "primary benefit" and "load" values, but the activities created by the Fenix 5 do not have these values defined.
