Edge 1030 records where it thinks you rode not where you actually rode (worse since firmware 8.0.0 update)

I updated to firmware 8.0.0 recently. Since the update I've noticed that recorded tracks seem to "want" to stick to roads even if part of the ride is off road. I attach a couple of images from recorded rides. In each case the real track I rode is in black while the track the Garmin 1030 recorded is in red. As you can see, the Garmin "prefers" the road to the off-road sections. Is there a setting to get the 1030 to record the real track ridden? I don't want the 1030 to record where it thinks I rode, but where I actually rode.

Have you looked if navigation settings have changed?

Is "Lock on road" is set to "On" now?

On other units, "lock on road" just change the display. It didn't change the data. It's not likely it change.

I have noticed something similar. I've ridden in the last week on some new cycle paths that aren't on maps yet. The path is at least 20 feet from the road but the Garmin is tracking me on the road

Thanks for your advice, however, I thought "lock on road" was meant for navigation not ride record, Thanks also to cactusbobby who seems to have the same issue since the update. There's no point in aggressively altering track points to make a recording look good if it doesn't record the ride as it was ridden. I think there should be an option to turn "second guessing" recording off.

Same here with v8. Today I was riding a road close to a btt path (10-15m on my left). The track has been recorded on the path, resulting on achieving 9th position in that path strava segment.

I checked my activity profile and lock on road is switched on. I've turned it off and I'll check what happens on my next ride

My Garmin was fully charged

I think they meant power saving mode, but that should not be the issue.
