Any news on respiration rate for the 1030?
The FirstBeat page shows that the 1030 now has this feature but it didn't seem to make it into the 8.00 release.

Besides this what are you going to do with this information? It looks like people can't think for their own anymore. They want to have measured everything: respiration rate, stress level, sleep time, heartrate, bloodpressure, power etc. and then what? Draw a nice graph?
why so grumpy? maybe your bloodpressure is too high?
Sorry about that but it was a honest question: what are you going to do with that information. As you may have noticed in this forum the devices get more and more complicated handling all this stuff with all the bugs that go along with that and in the end people still complain that the information is not accurate which is obvious for me. I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch to use as an device to log my off road rides and hikes. That watch shows your steps which is not accurate, it counts the number of stairs climbed which is not accurate, it measures your sleep pattern if you wear it while sleeping which is not accurate, it measures your burned calories which is not accurate, it measures your heartrate so so etc. etc. Why all this stuff if it is not accurate and doesn't change the way most people act. If your respiration rate is too high (what is too high btw) do you stop breathing? It puzzles me.
The Edge 1030 got climpro now and I really don't know what all the fuzz is about. Their are so many preconditions that it has no practical use for me, and see already one forum member is already questioning the accuracy. I rest my case ;-) Have a nice day.
No respiration rate is included and there is a slim chance it may arrive in the next update, however, I don't think it will as this is probably a licensing cost saving measure from Garmin.
It is the least noticeable feature and they probably felt that not including it was a justified risk as not many would notice or care. I believe it would be useful or at the very least interesting for Vo2 max sessions.
However, in typical Garmin fashion we now have a flagship that has less features than newer lower-end more economical devices.
OK. Just did my first ride yesterday with FW8.0. First message after turn on is Garmin tells me that I riding in daytime (duhhh) and different display setting would extend the battery life. Have to tap that away because I set the display setting on purpose. Do I get that warning every time now? If not where is the on/off button for that? I was riding a course which Garmin considers as a race, so I chasing my unable to disable Virtual Partner in the drops on the screen. I can't find the on/off switch for that silly Virtual Partner either. Suddenly a message pops up saying that my battery of my phone dropped to 15% blocking one third of my map screen. Message didn't had a time out so I had to tap the check mark to get rid of it. Ai, *** I locked my screen so I had to push the on/off switch first to unlock it. All that while I'm in a race. So tell me were are all the cool on/off switches to disable all thes BS features?
