Edge 1030 data fields for Varia Light and Radar battery level

Hi,

I use both the Varia Front Light (UT800) and the Rearview Radar (RTL510) paired to my Edge 1030.

Is there anyway to display the battery level of BOTH as data fields on one of my data screens? I find it quite useful to have a data screens showing just the battery levels of the various connected sensors (edge 1030, di2, UT800, RTL510, powermeter), so you know at the end of a ride what needs charging. At the moment under 'Lights' there is a battery level data field, but not sure which of the two it displays when both are connected.

Same applies to my Powermeter, is there a way to show its battery level as a data field?

I have been asking Garmin Support for years now, but no luck.

Thanks

  • I used the taillight datafield from the IQ store. For the tailight it works. It shows battery level and you can switch it on and off.

  • The Bontrager Light Control app shows the battery level of my previous generation (rectangular) Varia Radar, though it requires its own data screen. So it should be possible to show as a data field.

  • Thats also my issue regarding battery level data field.  If I connect 1st the RTL510, it will display the rear battery level but when I pair the UT800, it will over-ride the battery level.  It will display the front battery.  Maybe it will display the lowest level among the 2 but I'm not so sure.

  • The light battery data field displays the lowest level of all the lights that make up the light network.

  • Hi

I have the same issue. I have Varia UT800 and Varia RTL515. When both are paired to Edge 1030Plus, The Light Battery level shows only the battery status of the Headlight. Have you solved this? That to have 2 different "Light Battery" in the data field for Headlight and Taillight.

  • That information is available in the light widget. While in activity, swipe down from the top and go to the Light Network widget. Battery level is displayed there. Some for font light. That widget is the place Garmin selected to show that info, and it does not need datafields.

Power meter charge does not drain quickly so having an option to see it while riding is kind of useless. You can check it before you start in the sensor screen if your meter provide that info to the edge, or use the Power Meter specific app on your phone to do it.

It is on the other hand possible to display the Edge and Di2 battery levels in data fields.

  • Hello,

thank you very much for the answer. You are right, I see now the Battery level of Varia UT800(Headlight) from widget.

About the power meter battery, I never check it before riding because I always got a warning on the screen during the ride

once the Garmin Vector 3 battery status is Low and this warning is enough for me, so I just change the power meter's battery before the next ride.

  • I have the Varia UT800 and Varia RTL500, both paired to Edge 1030.

Just recently (maybe a month ago) I started using a datafield, need a bit of a learning curve but it is an impressive work. Shows the battery status as well but the most value - you can program your lights also the radar.

  • I have exactly the same setup and battery life issue. The 1030 only displays one battery status symbol. However, I have noticed that if only one of the two lights is conected the battery indicator does show a different charge level for each. I have also noted that when both lights are connected, the battery indicator level appears to default to the light with the lowest charge. Can anyone confirm if they experience the same?
