D-Fly Automatic Gear Reporting

Similar to as it was reported, and was later fixed with a firmware update (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-530/166015/di2-wireless-and-automatic-gear-setting), my Edge 1030 does not read/report correct crankset from the shimano ew-wu111 unit.

My compact crankset is being displayed as 53/34 on the Edge when “Gearset” is set to “Auto”. Cassette is recognized and displayed correctly.

All of the Di2 components including the ew-wu111 are on the latest firmware and both PC and iOS E-Tube apps recognize the FD correctly as 50/34.

Edge is on firmware 7.50.

Anyone had the same problem and was able to correct it?

Try the beta build 7.87. I think you will find it is fixed in that build.

Yes. I just go into the settings and set it manually. :)

I don’t know if I have the same problem. I also set it manually. Why make it more complicated than that. It is not so that you have to do it every ride. I can’t figure out myself how automatic detection can work reliable.

That’s what I’m doing anyway. I’m just wondering why auto mode is working correctly for the cassette/RD, and not the crankset/FD.

Try the beta build 7.87. I think you will find it is fixed in that build.

Thanks! I’m usually weary of trying beta builds, but I might give it a try if FW 7.90 gets delayed.
