Great Customer Service

I know a that there's a lot of complaining about Garmin in these forums so I thought I'd share my experience with them.

My 1030 has been displaying the 'halo' effect for a while but on a recent ride I got caught in torrential rain and my display was jumping all over the place as if the rain was causing random touch inputs which it had never done before so I decided to finally call them about it.

I rang Garmin UK on the Tuesday, explained the situation and they agreed to email me a RMA which arrived soon after.

I posted it back to them on Wednesday

Friday morning I received an email confirming that they'd received it followed a few hours later by another confirming dispatch of a replacement!

On Tuesday morning (Monday was a bank holiday) my replacement arrived.

Excellent service Garmin UK

  • In Garmin Czech rep. the same took 3 weeks.

  • Forgot how long it took, but it wasn't super quick.   I was out of the 1-year warranty, but Garmin US did send for no charge, a replacement 1030 (probably refurbished or something that was not in retail packaging) because barometer/altimeter was not working any more.  I am still impressed.  Ask Apple and they will say, sorry, you're out of warranty, or say that you can get a refurb for a at least a few hundred dollars.

  • MIne was about 18 month old, I'm not sure what the warranty is in the UK

Although I experienced a slightly different issue with the 1030 (screen lifted due to battery "swelling") I can +1 on the great support and quick resolution from Garmin UK and echo that in addition to the (mostly) negative comments on the forum, on this occasion the response was excellent - it took around 4 days from notifying Garmin to receiving the replacement unit (which incidentally, although is indicated as being refurbished, appears brand new).

So, credit where credit is due.

  • I had a great CS experience getting the blue halo issue resolved with my 1030. Even though I had it longer than 1 year, they did an advanced exchange with no hassle.

  • In CZ is 2 years warranty :-)

Must agree, excellent service from Garmin UK.  1030 with Blue Halo swapped in just under a week.  The support guy even profusely apologised for them being out of stock at the moment, put me on hold and then apologised when he said it would be Monday before they had them back in stock. They were never going to get it before Thursday, so a whole working day extra delay.

Really happy with the service and filled the feedback request in to say so!

  • In the EU it is 2 years. So you better hurry up there in the UK ;-)

  • Mine was 18 months old and was replaced in the uk free. Took 3 weeks from start to finish.
