GPS sampling rate

Hi,

I am thinking of using my Edge 1030 in order to track my lap times on a race track with a motorcycle. I am trying to locate the device's GPS sampling rate as I am not sure that the laps option (based on position) will work at speeds of a motorcycle on a race track. Does anybody has an idea if it will be able to handle it - or it is meant to be use at a much reduced speeds...

If you have a friend with an Edge best is to try it. There are settings for how the data is stored, something like every second or Smart. And the smart mode aims at saving storage space do it does not save as many data points and varies sampling rate according to speed. This might give you a clue but this is not how fast the GPS signal is being updated. Again the only way to know before spending the money would be to borrow a device and try it.

Now if a motorcycle is all you will use it with there might be other devices that better suit you needs, including a GPS watch. A fenix can do the laps and record GPS. If you don't need a big screen with a map that might be more practical to use.
