Mapping issue

Hi all,

First post (be gentle).

I've recently moved house and as such all of my previous local routes are no longer needed so I've been creating a few from where I live now. I'm not doing anything different here since the move but my mapping is screwed up.

To explain, I usually create a route using one of the on-line sites - justgoride.co.uk is my usual one and then download the .gpx and import to my device.

Anyway, I transfer a route and when riding all I get on the display is the line of the direction I am heading, nothing else no mapping detail, i.e. no roads, junctions, turns, railway lines, rivers etc just the line I am riding. So for example I can see that I need to turn right but I have no idea which right hand turn it could be until I get to the turn.

As far as I am concerned nothing has changed, although there was a firmware update and I cannot seem to find anything within the menu's to add this data back in???

If I don't load a route and just ride the map is displayed as normal.

Any thoughts?

  • you moved from where to where (approx, no need for a precise address) ? The built-in maps have limited coverage for the region of purchase. Also to get the turn notifications make sure you activated that function in the Saved Courses/menu (3 bars icon).

When importing GPX you can copy them the NewFile folder on the device using a computer. The method I prefer is to import it on the Garmin Connect website and then transfer it using my phone. If you go through the website you will see if all is good before you save it. On the device you don't really know.
