Edge 1030 not recording at low speeds

Noticed my edge 1030 doesn’t record when travelling at walking pace.

Noticed again today when walking out of a mtb track after a mate had a stack and it only started recording when we started riding again and not when walking.

My 705 records fine in the same situation and even when inside my backpack whereas the 1030 is useless

Auto pause is on and set to record every second.

  • Sounds like you have auto pause set too high. Auto pause should be turned off or set very low if you are walking. One second recording has nothing to do with problem.

I previously had a 705 and I find no difference in the GPS signals of the units. What is the GPS setting. Have you tried it with the additional GPS systems?

I turned my auto pause off and it recorded everything after that. I think there is a minimum speed like 6.5/mph before it turns back on and I wasn't getting a lot of my "hike-a-bike" stuff because I was moving too slow.

  • Auto pause is currently set to When Stopped.   Will change it to 0.2 and see if that improves things.

  • GPS accuracy has also something to do with this. If you move very slow not all motions are detected quickly. For activities that include quite a bit of slow motion like hiking and mountain biking I set auto-pause to OFF. I use it with the road cycling profile and the likes.

  • Changed auto pause from ‘when stopped’ to 0.2km/h

    starts recording straight away.
