I got this message already in 2 activities where I supposedly reached over 1k watts. Is there any explanation about this message? Is garmin detecting that perhaps the reading was incorrect or something like that?

Does this message appear on the Edge when you save the activity?
There was a filter added, but that is for values above 4,000 watts.
No, the activity itself has the spike of 1200 watts included. However, when I go to garmin connect on a PC to see more details about it, you can select "Power curve", and there is where you can see that the message that the activity was excluded from the power curve. In fact, when you go to "reports" there in garmin connect on the PC, you can see that the curve remains the same without including your activity with that higher value.
Would you be willing share a link to the activity or take a screen shot?
It could be a GC bug, unless it truly is a false spike. They may have added logic to look for a build up of power.
Do you feel that the 1200 watt value is correct?
It does look like a spike. It appears that the power meter stopped sending data for a few seconds and when it did start sending it, it dump all the accumulated power into the next records.
It looks like your Stages power meter might be running an old software build. Use the Stages phone app and see if it has an update available.

Thank you for helping me understand how does it works! Yes, it does not make sense if a high value just appears and disappears, I may need to fix the fit file in order to be able to use that activity for my power chart.. Also, taking advantage on your suggestion I checked today and there is a new firmware update for my stages, so I just installed it hopefully it fix these spikes. I was surprised there was an update available since the powermeter model already has some years in the market.
However it is sad that I am still unable to break the 1k watt barrier.... I need more training!
