Setup: Edge 1030 attached to the stem, Tacx Neo Smart 2, Garmin Cadence Sensor at the crank, Garmin Vector 2, Garmin HRM Dual.
Yesterday, for the first time, I tried to use the trainer mode on my edge within the indoor-profile with the goal of training according to a specific power target (ERG mode?!) in mind.
After setting a power target on my edge, the trainer immediately adjusted to the target but then lost the setting again after approx. 40 seconds (while the edge kept displaying the chosen power target) until I changed the power target again. Another curiosity, which might be related: the edge kept losing the connection for the speed-data from the trainer, see the attached image:
Changing the power sensor from trainer to pedal and vice versa does not seem to make a difference. My smartphone was within a 20 meter range in another room, no apps should have been running, but tacx trainer + utility apps and zwift are installed.
As far as I can tell from Zwift, the trainer seems to work fine in general: ERG mode is working in Zwift (Android + PC). Power data in Zwift and on the edge however show a difference of around 10 watts (power data displayed on the edge is higher than the on displayed on zwift), which is a second issue. In my opinion they should align much better.
Any ideas to solve my two issues (1.) Trainer doesn't keep its power target and loses the speed-sensor connection and 2.) discrepance of power in Zwift vs the Edge) would be greatly anticipated. Thank you.
edit: did another test yesterday - still having the same issue, even after removing all sensors and reconnecting them. power target set with the edge (trainer connected via ant+ - I can not connect the trainer to the edge via bluetooth...) will get lost each time after approx. 40 seconds - doesnt matter if power source is set to the trainer or the vector 2; cadence data is fine, speed data shows connection lose - I am quite sure that both had the trainer as data source?! I even turned off my 2.4 ghz wlan since it is said that it could interfere with ant+ connection. Power target set via the tacx app (bluetooth) works fine => I am pretty sure its an edge 1030/ant+ problem.
nobody here has a smart trainer and can confirm my problems?
