Navigating for the 1st time on my 1030 using a file from Garmin express of a route I'd done before on my 1000. It only showed directions North/south/east west whereas on my 1000 it showed road names etc??

Any ideas? Assume it might be a breadcrumb Tcx file but on my 1000 it gave full turn by turn with road names and details

Thanks Martin. I did that but still only displays North/south/east/west. No road names or map, just a line. It did give an arrow for the turns but with a blank background rather than a map background?

make sure you have TBT enabled, that is on option when you go Navigation/Saved Courses/menu (the 3 bars). There you can enable TBT and also Off Course Warning. If that is enabled when you load the course it should display a "Calculating xx%" message is it matches the TCX trace with the road map and figures out the best match.

It sounds like the map is missing or disabled.

Go into the Activity profile you are using then Navigation, Map, Map Information.

See what maps are enabled.

Really confused now. It says map enabled but it's not visible. Do I return to seller or Garmin?
