is Edge 1030 most expensive extended display for Multisport?

since i have a Forerunner 945 i record everything with it, because the new metrics of Training Load aren't working together with Edge 1030, seems Physio True Up do not work correctly, the only way, to use Edge 1030 is in extended display mode.

Think the cost of Edge 1030 don't allow, that this device is the most expensive extended display i have ever seen!

When Garmin couldn't fix this, why they don't release a cheap extended display with no other things as long battery life and a big display like the Edge 1030?

Will there come an FW Update that could fix this problem, hopefully after Tour de france?

  • I am in a similar position just having purchased the Forerunner 945. I really do like the watch and relish it for when I am travelling in hotel gyms and doing treadmill or bike workouts but when I am on the bike outside I would prefer to use my edge device. I too cannot get Physio True Up to work properly including the training loads and my VO2 Max was reporting different values on both devices as was the training status - one device said Productive, the other device Overreaching. One might say, why don't you just use your Forerunner for all activities and the reason is that 3 hour rides outside take a lot of the battery and extended display mode only shows a few of the fields that I would like to display. I really do hope that they fix this with a software update as I'd like to continue to use the Forerunner and Edge together and considering they are two of Garmin's flagship products I don't think the ask is unreasonable.
