Blue halo again

My replacement unit starts showing the blue halo again after 6 months. I will send it in again because for me it is unacceptable. Is there an official statement that this issue is solved and how can I check if the new unit I will get has a display that doesn't show a blue halo after a couple of months?

What is the TSC version of your screen? The blue halo screens were TSC 85.11.0 and the new screens without blue halo are TSC 86.04.00. You can find this information under - SYSTEM - ABOUT - COPYRIGHT …

My last (second) replacement unit ( TSC version 86.04.00) is still good after 10 months of intensive use.

Thanks. I just checked my current defective unit and it has indeed a TSC 85.11.00 version screen. I will make sure that the next replacement will have a TSC 86.04.00 version otherwise I will send it back right away. This is becoming very annoying. Thx again for the info.

My guess would be Touch Screen Controller - so the TSC number would be the hardware/firmware version.

is this stated by the garmin support team? or is just a rumor ... garmin never dropped a word about the fix of the halo, just change the devices and that is all.

when the tsc 86 was deployed?

Surely if garmin are giving us a refurbished 1030 then we have a very high chance of the halo Tsc version again.

I have to send mine back which is the first Tsc version bet I get the old version back again.

I had mine (purchased July 18) replaced with a refurb a couple of weeks ago for the halo issue. Old one TSC 85.x, new one TSC 86.x. Hopefully that's the last I see of the issue.

Strangely, a friend of mine just bought one this week and has TSC 85.x.

If you have a 1030 with an older screen (TSC 85.11.0) is it a guarantee that the replacement will be a refurbished one or some people get refurbished ones and other people get new ones?

tsc 86 is not guarantee of new screen, at least none from garmin have said a word, is a rumor from the lastest devices, people noticed that the replaced now comes with new tsc version, and that is all.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about receiving a refurbishment. While mine was in good condition (some marks on the mount as you would expect) the refurbished unit I received was indistinguishable from new. Absolutely pristine.
