Use of Maps already purchased ?

Have purchased Topo Maps or my Edge 810. Now I want to buy an Edge 1030. Can I use the maps I have already purchased for my Edge 810?

according to Garmin maps are tied to the device you install it on and cant be moved. (Had same issue on my Fenix 5x) - but when you sell the device - buyer can use your maps without issue. But you can't use them on any other device.

Depends on what kind if map media you purchased.

If it’s a SD card, the maps are locked to the card and you can put the card in the 1030 and it will work fine.

If you downloaded the maps and installed them on the 810, then they are locked to the 810.

I have Topo maps that I purchased 4-5 years back and use Garmin Basemap to load the relevant maps onto an SD card to use in my Edge 1030. The Edge displays road information from the base maps and topo info together.

sorry. I use BaseCamp to load the maps.
