my edge 1030 is having an odd personal record problem. it does update the “fastest 40k” when i achieve it. however the unit is not recording farthest distance, most ascent or best power. i have had 5k feet in climbing in one ride and nothing was recorded as personal record. the display shows”- -“ no number, same goes for the distance and power records. only the 40k shows a value. all other aspects of the 1030 are working fine compared to rides recorded with other Garmin devices. i have updated to the recent release 7.5. all was working in the past release i had which was 7.3 thanks to any insight from the forum

    Welcome to the 40K problem... I'm struggling with Garmin so they can understand that they have a issue on the development software they should be easy to solve... if they understand the issue.

    Until now and after several e-mails and 2 phone calls to support no help at all.

    I've posted and issue similar to your some weeks ago.

  • Have you tried using Garmin Connect (web interface) to confirm your Personal Records and push them to the 1030?  https://connect.garmin.com/modern/personal-records

    It won't work. It has a bug since last Garmin Connect upgrade... If you erase your 40Km record and try to upload it again it will get the average of your total exercise divided by the amount of time spent to accomplish all.

    Ex: 2 hours exercise with 40Km average

    If you upload it to the record it will get a 40Km record of 20Km/h half of the time as it was made in 2 hours...

    You can test it...

    Check it here:

    At least 40,4Km/h average for 77,73Km

    The 40Km record can't be correct... If for 77,73Km I've ride with an average of 40,4Km/h how can the software identify 20,8???

    Easy calculations:

    40,4Km/h -> 77,73Km so for the software in 40Km I've made 20,8Km/h Slight smile

    As you can see for 60 minutes the average was 40,8Km/h and with other softwares I can see that for 40Km I've made 58m16s... Can this be so difficult to understand and solve???

    I believe Garmin is not even interested on solving it...
