1030 GPS antenna location

Where is the physical location of the GPS antenna on the 1030? I am wondering if my aftermarket case is interfering with the GPS signal at times. My friend and I road the exact same Strava segment and his 1030 recorded all of the segment correctly and my 1030 didn’t. The only difference is I have this case on. I opened a ticket with Strava and they were able to fix the file so the segment showed up. Strava said there were some gaps in the GPS data capture during the segment possibly caused by the tree cover. Again I was following my friend and his 1030 was able to record the segment correctly.

I am not sure where the exact location of the GPS chip set is in the Edge 1030, However, there would be an easier test. Why not simply ride without the new case and see if there is improvement in the performance…

Former Member - I am a little confused about what you mean by Aftermarket Case? Is it a case that goes around the Edge 1030?

Also make sure that you and your friend were using the same GPS mode- gps + Galileo or whatever. That could make a difference in reception.

Case for 1030 from a computer in UK, provides more coverage than Garmin case. Sort of like the old Garmin Edge 1000 case.

Should have mentioned that our GPS modes and sample intervals are the same.
