Live track question

I read a few posts about Live track not working. I don't use it since I have been using the RoadID app on my phone for several years with excellent results. I decided to try Live Track and it did not autostart. I then manually started it and it only lasted 4 miles. Tried again and it did not even make it a mile. Is there a way to determine the status of Live track other than looking at the phone? Seems like there should be a message on the 1030 to indicate Live track has a problem.

  • My experience has been that when my "phone disconnected" then you can bet that the Livetrack has stopped as well so I take a look any time I hear a beep to see if I've lost the connection.  If so I pull out my phone and open Garmin Connect mobile app and it usually reconnects...

  • Yep, that's the story of life with 1030. Pull out phone and open GCM, again, and again, and again...

  • I was going through the settings of both GCM and the 1030 to see if I had missed a setting that would cause Live track to fail. I found nothing but noticed I had GPS set for Galileo and GPS. I set it for GPS because I don't see the need for Galileo. On my next ride of about 20 miles, the live track worked perfectly with a manual start. I tried a shorter ride and it worked again. I don't know if changing the GPS setting had anything to do with this new behavior. I'm going to try it with auto start on a longer 60 mile ride this week.

  • May you have better luck than me, but I switched to GPS only months ago as a power saving move (not related to livetrack fails).   Livetrack fails all the time still.
