Out front mount for battery pack + Varia HL500 headlight?

Not 100% sure where to post this ... but I'll throw it out here.

I'm considering getting the battery pack for my Edge 1030 ... but I also have a Varia HL-500 headlight.

Will the HL500 attach to underside of the battery pack's out front mount (not at the same time, of course)?

If not, is there an adapter that I could get to accomplish this?

There is not mount on the underside of the battery pack. I suspect that they considered that having the extra weight of the battery pack and another item like a light or camera might be too much for the mount to handle.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough ... what I meant is will the HL-500 attach to the out-front mount that the battery pack attaches to? Both the battery pack & HL-500 are designed to attach to the bottom of the out-front mount.

I would use either the battery pack OR the HL-500, not both.

I have the same headlight... When I bought my Edge 1030 I was using the mount it came with that lets you use the battery pack. I am pretty sure I had to swap mounts to the one the headlight came in since the "Adapter" for the headlight would not tighten up on the other mount,. I will check again when I get home if I remember.

Where did you get the adapter? Did it come with the battery pack, the 1030, or did you purchase it separately?

The HL-500 uses a quarter turn mount.

This is what I'm trying to verify. Does the battery pack use the quarter turn mount or something different?

Yes. The HL-500 does fit the mount used for the battery pack. I just tried it.

Garmin has an out front holder that holds the battery thru to the 1030. It has a connector builtin to hold the varia headlight with no modification or extra parts needed. Battery or headlight can be attached but not both. I use it all the time.
