iPhone Garmin Connect - Sync Failed - Device Connection Error

iPhone 8, Latest iOS and Latest Garmin Connect - Sync Failed - Device Connection Error

Noticed I am getting Sync Failed errors, from Garmin Connect on iPhone. Everything says it's connected, FR935 has no issues.

Uploads and sync do seem to work eventually but are over WiFi not the Garmin Connect Bluetooth connection.

Tried removing Edge 1030 device from GC and iPhone Bluetooth and re-connecting - still the same.

This is are Blue Halo replacement device.

  • I have resolved this by completely reseting and downgrading to Firmware 7.40.

This is a very painful process - why do these quality issues keep occurring???

The problem started occurring when I migrated to a Blue Halo Replacement device (maybe it was the migration and/or update to 7.50 that caused the issues).  I downgraded to 7.40 to fix the auto upload issue reported in another thread.

Not sure which bit fixed it but here are the steps I took:

    - Backed up my settings

    - Removed device from Garmin Connect iOS app and iPhone Bluetooth connections

    - Reset device / removed all data

    - Downgraded to firmware 7.40

    - Setup as new device with Garmin Connect iOS app (skipped the activity profiles setup)

    - Restored my settings by copying backed up files to newfiles folder on device

The device is now syncing correctly with my iPhone.

It has also fixed the auto upload on wifi issue - but I think that is related to the downgrade to Firmware 7.40
