372.9 mile 600k Long Ride .TCX file 200 course points Issue.

I rode a 600k Brevet this weekend at mile 350 miles my turn by turn stopped. Also at 250  miles the cue sheet was gone and  it only said finish with miles to the finish.  I also notice when i loaded the course it had a message 200 course point only final 67 points not shown. Can this be fixed so i can ride a 1200k next?

  • The 200 course point limit is an old issue. Don't expect it to be fixed any time soon (or ever).

You should consider splitting such long courses up anyway.

Oh, you don't get course points with a GPX file (they are only in FIT or TCX files).

  • Yes i meant .TCX. The only problem the courses are sent via ride with gps and are not split. We do not create them the RBA does. Why do you think they will not fix this issue?

  • Will the Bata version 7.41 fix this issue. It say fixes long courses. " Fixed issues with loading very long courses."

  • Why don't you load the beta and see if it's fixed?

I was talking about the course point limitation. That's an old problem. It's not likely that that will ever be fixed.

In any case, what is a "very long course"?

Would it make sense to go out on a 1200k depending on something so vaguely worded is going to work?

  • Be more resourceful.

You can get your own rwgps account. Then, you can copy the route and edit it.

It's a bit of a pain but it's better than having an issue on the road.

The course point limit is an old issue. If there was any interest in fixing that, it would likely have been fixed years ago.

  • I use paper as a back up so if it fails i resort to paper. On a 1200k Brevet the only thing you need to worry about is the time.

  • If i split the course into two will it download as as one ride?

  • To each his own (that is, do what you want even if people disagree).

I'm faster using a Garmin than fussing with cuesheets (which are even more of a pain to use at night).

One problem with cuesheets is that they aren't very useful if you go off course.

Time isn't the only thing to worry about. Faster riders have more opportunity to sleep.

My preference would be to take the effort before the ride to make using the GPS more reliable.

    =======================

You can change the course during a ride. Recording a ride is separate from navigating.

I don't know if the device will have problems recording such long rides. (The 800 had issues with rides longer than about 180 miles.)

The 1030 lets you save a ride but also continue it (I believe). Try it on a short ride.
