Broken mount tabs

Hi,

I have just migrated from an edge 1000 to the 1030 which died due to the charging port not working. Last week I noticed the mounting tabs on the rear cover started to break off, it seems to me the plastic is a bit more brittle than on the edge 1000 as both were used on the same out front mount but the 1000 never suffered this issue.

My question .. I have researched and found mounting tabs that can be glued on over the existing mount after filing them down, but I have only seen this done on the 1000 models and below. Has anyone done this successfully on a 1030 ?

I notice on the back of the edge 1030 there are some pins which look like they could be electrical contacts (?) is it ok to cover these up with one of the after market stick on mounts ? I know the edge 1000 has a little hole which must be kept free for I think the pressure sensor.

Thanks for any experiences or advice.

.....

As a side note.... I managed to successfully get the 1000 charging port replaced at a local hole in the wall electronic repair shot for 10 dollars ! Garmin wanted around 200 dollars for a refurbed unit. Unfortunately I already pulled the trigger on a new 1030 before the fix.
