When will the Edge 1030 work reliably with the Bontrager smart lights

I’ve had the Bontrager smart lights (Ion 200RT and Flare RT) for a year, through many iterations of Edge 1030 firmware.  They are frustrating to ride with, as they intermittently disconnect and reconnect to the light network, beeping and obscuring the screen each time this happens.  When will this be fixed?

Thanks

  • I agree it's a royal pain in the A$$. Especially when you have the RTL500 on the same Light Network. It never works.

  • I confirm that the lights still intermittently disconnect under firmware 7.50

  • Mine work without problems on 7.50. I have the Ion 200 RT and the RTL500. I. Also have the bontrager widget installed if that makes any difference

  • Folks, I had the same frustrating problem, but I just tried a factory reset of the lights and it worked for me...

To reset Bontrager lights to their factory default settings, with the light ON, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. The main LED will flash once at 8 seconds, and again at 15 seconds. Release the button after the second flash.

I then re-started my 1030, and the Light Network connected immediately.

  • I'd love to know how to turn the Ion200RT completely off. It'll just sit there flashing it's blue light for a few days until it's flat. Then it's not ready when I need it. Anyone know how?

  • If is the same as Flare RT , you need to hold power button (with the light off) until you will see an flash, then keep holding until second flash, this will turn off conectivity
