Blank segment explorer screen not fixed in v7.40

In 7.30 and some versions before, the segment explorer screen remains blank. No selection of nearby segments possible. In v7.40 it is again not fixed. When will this fix be available, garmin?

btw: when a phone (iPhone 8) notification is received while my garmin is displaying the segment explorer screen, the segments will show up after the notification disappears. Probably a hint for the dev team to speed up search for the bug and delivering a fix  ;-)

  • Interesting. I just tried sending myself a text message while on the blank Segment Explore screen (with S7 phone) and sure enough the segments then showed up. Very curious. At least now I could get an idea how to leverage this to see segments. Also tried with smart notification from email and it worked too. My friend just got an 830 and his Segment Explore show up automatically and immediately like the 1030 used to a long time ago.

    I can replicate the Segments/notifications bug on my 1030 with 7.41 and iOS GCM 4.19.1.1 as well.

    Blank screen, send yourself a text and boom they all appear. What the $£%$ is that all about???

  • So it seems that 7.5 fixed the blank Segment Explore screen for me now. Since installing 7.5 I've rebooted 1030 several times and made sure all notifications on my phone were cleared out. Every time when I go to the Segment Explore screen it shows the segments after loading them. Perhaps this bug has been fixed.

  • I can confirm. Just did a ride with 7.5 and segments show up again in the segment explorer. It seems to be fixed, fingers crossed. Nothing about it in the changelog btw.

  • After the fix the segment explorer widget has different behavior. When you download a segment during an activity, the segment becomes available to ride after finishing the activity that has been started. Before, the segment you downloaded was available immediately for riding it. Please Garmin fix this behavior.
