We are continuing to work with Apple regarding Bluetooth connection issues with our devices. We have released Garmin Connect Mobile version 4.1.5 that includes improvements for iOS connectivity. Please continue to post any feedback in this thread.
iOS public beta 7 fixed all of this for me. Suddenly the Edge 1030 is showing up in GC when attempting to add it. I'm yet to test it in action, but now its properly connected at least.
I paired my Garmin Edge 1030 a few months ago and used it on a trainer. It would connect and send data to the phone without issue. Now I moved to a train outdoors in a different country and the device immediately forgot my phone. I can only connect for one sync. Then it would not send data after a ride, even though I always keep my phone near the device. I need to remove Garmin from the list of BT devices and basically go over the same procedure again. Pairing the device takes significant time. Sometimes Garmin Connect would show a "List of Devices" and "does not see" my device. Sometimes it would see, but show "Unsuccessful" This is very annoying. It takes up a lot of my time while I am on vacation. I have latest updates install on my phone and the Edge. While previous Garmin Edge 1000 had its own problems, connection feature worked fine.
This is ridiculous. Today the device did not sync again. I manually started syncing and left my iPhone and Garmin unattended. Then it looks like Garmin simply went to sleep before the sync ended. After several attempts I was able to save my ride. When I had my first Garmin Forerunner 305 it was so easy - I came home, put the device on the cradle and it would start charging and syncing. It was that simple! Never had a problem and did not even think there could be a problem with synching. Why do you always add new features just for the sake it? Why discard what had worked well before and introduce buggy code?
I have a 1030 Edge, trying to pair to an iPhone X running iOS 12.1.2. I have BT_Edge 1030 showing in the BT device list on the phone. I have the "iPhone" showing in the paired devices on the Edge 1030. In the phone set up it just shows "waiting for phone" for over an hour. I have removed the respective devices from each "device" to no avail. Any ideas? Very frustrating.
My iPhone is connected with the device and has Garmin Connect running. But when I tap the update circle it rotates once and does nothing. After several attempts it starts synching, but then synching stops half way. This is already taking me about 20 minutes. I just had 7 hours ride that I want to examine and the device just does not sync.
Finally I opened Garmin Express and synched over USB. It worked well, except that it reported there is a broken file on my Garmin. Luckily the ride seems to look OK in Garmin Connect. But why all these troubles? Why did my file got corrupted?
I think this problem has something to do with the Internet access. When I exercise indoor, where I have high-speed reliable internet, my activities are transferred over BT without an issue. But as soon as I go some place like a hotel with unreliable Wi-Fi, I also get issues with BT sync. I think the Garmin connect sends data to the internet server while doing BT sync. If it encounters connection issue, the sync stops. I suggest caching the data while syncing over BT and then sending it to the server as it becomes available.
